CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City— The Armed Forces of the Philippines held a Joint Change of Chief of Office Ceremony for key offices today, here. The AFP Chief General Romeo S Brawner Jr. presided over the ceremony, installing the AFP's new Vice Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, J3.
Lt. General Jimmy D Larida succeeds the outgoing Vice Chief of Staff, Lt. General Arthur M Cordura, who currently serves as the Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force. Prior his assumption, Lt. General Larida is the AFP's Deputy Chief of Staff.
On the same day, Brigadier General Elmer B Suderio assumed as the new Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, J3. Prior his appointment, BGen Suderio served as the Commander of the 102nd Infantry “Igsoon” Brigade; Chief of Unified Command Staff, Western Mindanao Command (WESMINCOM); and Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations of the 1st Infantry “Tabak” Division during the Marawi Siege in 2017. He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Maalab” Class of 1993 and a graduate of the U.S. Army War College in Pennsylvania, United States.
In his remarks, General Brawner praised Lt. General Larida for assuming his new role and entrusted him with continuing the exemplary service established by Lt. General Cordura. He also congratulated BGen Suderio on his new appointment, highlighting his responsibility to uphold the AFP's legacy, sustain its initiatives, and lead the organization toward even greater achievements.
The event highlighted the AFP’s commitment to excellence, reinforcing the tradition of progress and transformation within its organization.
