CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City - LtGen Arthur Cordura, Vice Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (VCSAFP), on behalf of General Romeo Brawner Jr., AFP Chief, welcomed General Charles Flynn, Commanding General, US Army Pacific, on a courtesy visit here on April 29, 2024.
The meeting marked a significant milestone in the longstanding alliance between the AFP and the United States Army, underscoring the mutual commitment to enhancing military collaboration. The two parties had constructive discussions on a wide range of strategic issues, including defense cooperation, multidomain awareness, joint training exercises, and shared regional security challenges.
LtGen Cordura expressed his appreciation for the invaluable support and assistance provided by the US Army in advancing the modernization efforts of the AFP in pursuit of enhancing its operational capabilities. He reiterated the AFP’s commitment to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the US, fostering interoperability in promoting a free and stable Indo-Pacific region.
“We are really glad for the maturity of the Philippines and the US partnership. Through this alliance and the continuous success of Balikatan, we hope for the efficient modernization of AFP, especially in addressing the national challenges we face in the West Philippine Sea,” said LtGen Cordura.
