CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines Pension and Gratuity Management Center (AFPPGMC), held a Change of Chief of Office Ceremony, recognizing the service of outgoing Chief, Brigadier General Joselito T Lopena PAF, on January 24, 2025, here. The event was presided over by AFP Deputy Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Jimmy D Larida.
Prior his stint, BGen Lopena served as Deputy Commander of the AFP’s Communication, Electronics and Information Systems Service. He is a graduate of the Aviation Cadets and Student Officers Program and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Management from the Development Academy of the Philippines. BGen Lopena was succeeded by Colonel Stephen L Cabanlet PN(M), who will serve in acting capacity.
Col Cabanlet previously served as Deputy Chief of the AFPPGMC and Director for the Directorate Stakeholder Engagement, NTF-ELCAC Secretariat at the Office of the President. He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Mabikas” Class of 1996 and holds a Master’s in International Relations from Deakin University in Canberra, Australia.
In his remarks, LtGen Larida thanked BGen Lopena for his exemplary service and leadership. He also expressed full confidence in Col Cabanlet’s ability to further enhance the AFP’s Pension and Gratuity Management programs.
This leadership transition underscores the AFP’s dedication to continually improving the welfare of its personnel and advancing its initiatives through continuous growth and innovation.
