Army's 85IB facilitates surrender of NPAs and supporters; discovers arms cache in Quezon Province

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Philippine Army's 85th Infantry Battalion (85IB) facilitated the surrender of 6 communist NPA terrorists (CNT) and 75 supporters in Quezon Province since February 13.

Two CNT members and 21 supporters abandoned their group in San Andres, Quezon on February 14 when they surrendered to 85IB, PNP, and LGU of San Andres.

On February 13, four CNT members and 54 supporters surrendered on separate occasions in the towns of Lopez, San Andres, and San Francisco in Quezon, also facilitated by the 85th IB.

Meanwhile, with the help of a former CNT member, the 85IB discovered an arms cache containing five firearms, various ammunition, and an anti-personnel mine on February 15 in Macalelon, Quezon.

These achievements further erode the capability of the CNTs to conduct atrocities in the province, which will ensure the success of government programs implemented by the NTF-ELCAC in the area.(Photos by 85IB)
