CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City — The Armed Forces of the Philippines successfully hosted the 23rd ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces Meeting (ACDFM) held on May 21 at Conrad Hotel, Pasay City, where ASEAN member-states formally adopted the ASEAN Militaries Two-Year Activity Work Plan 2026–2028 and the 23rd ACDFM Joint Statement, reaffirming their commitment to deeper defense cooperation, interoperability, and regional stability.
The adoption of these outcomes underscores ASEAN defense leaders’ resolve to strengthen practical cooperation amid evolving security challenges. Guided by the theme “Securing Our Future, Together,” the Work Plan and Joint Statement call for enhanced coordination, expanded joint training exercises, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, and sustained collaboration to improve readiness and interoperability among ASEAN armed forces in addressing emerging security threats.
The AFP emphasized that these milestones reaffirm ASEAN Centrality and the importance of collective action in maintaining peace and stability in Southeast Asia. Unity must be continuously translated into practical and sustained cooperation on the ground, where shared challenges demand shared solutions.
