CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) joined the entire nation in commemorating the 127th anniversary of Philippine Independence with a Simultaneous Flag Raising and Wreath Laying Ceremony held at the Rizal National Monument in Manila City on June 12, 2025.
The ceremony, led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and joined by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S. Brawner Jr., brought together national and local officials, members of the uniformed services, and representatives from various sectors of society in a united display of patriotism.
Held under the theme “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.”, the commemoration highlighted the heroism of the Filipino people, the ongoing pursuit of national progress, and the lasting significance of independence in shaping the country’s future.
In his address, President Marcos emphasized the importance of honoring the nation’s freedom by living with courage and a deep sense of patriotism, “Let us honor this day not just by remembering the sacrifices of our forefathers. We must live with the same courage and love of country; for freedom is not just something that we inherit but a right that we must protect every single day,” the President said.
The AFP, as protector of the people and defender of the state, reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to safeguard the country's sovereignty and support efforts that promote peace, development, and national unity.
