Malacañang approves the designation, promotion of AFP senior officers

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City - President Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the new designations and promotions of Generals, Flag Officers, and other Senior Officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in a series of communications forwarded to the General Headquarters, Armed Forces of the Philippines here.

RAdm Antonio C Palces PN, the current Deputy Chief of Staff for Education and Training, J8, was designated effective 21 February 2022 as the new Vice Commander of the Philippine Navy, the position vacated by Philippine Marine Corps Commandant MGen Nestor C Herico PN(M).

MGen Nestor Florente DC Rayos PAF will also assume as the Commander of Air Education, Training, and Doctrine Command effective 12 March 2022. He is set to relinquish his current post as Commander of Air Combat Command to MGen Edward L Libago PAF, the current commander of the Air Force Reserve Command.

The President also approved the designation of BGen Zosimo A Oliveros as the new Assistant Division Commander of the 8th Infantry Division effective 02 March 2022. He is the current commander of the 802nd Infantry Brigade.

The General Headquarters and Headquarters Service Command is also set to have its new commander in BGen Ferdinand S Razalan, effective on 11 April 2022. He is the current Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservist and Retiree Affairs, AJ9.

Also, BGen Eduardo B Gubat, commander of the 603rd Infantry Brigade, will assume as the Assistant Division Commander of the 6th Infantry Division starting 16 April 2022.

Meanwhile, Col Doroteo Jose M Jalandoni PN(M) was designated as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, AJ2, effective 02 March 2022. Captain Alan M Javier PN, Deputy Commander for Fleet Operations of Naval Forces Western Mindanao, was also designated as the commander of Naval Forces West to take effect on 02 March 2022.

In a separate document from Malacanang, the President approved the ad-interim appointment of several AFP senior officers.

BGen Ignatius N Patrimonio PA, Commander of Joint Task Force Sulu, was promoted to the rank of Major General effective 17 February 2022. Likewise, Captain Francisco G Tagamolila Jr PN, Commander of Naval Forces Northern Luzon, was promoted to the rank of Commodore; while Col Consolito P Yecla PA, Commander of 1003rd Brigade, and Col Marvin L Licudine PA, Chief of the AFP Peace and Development Office, were promoted to the rank of Brigadier General effective 14 February 2022.

The designations and appointments of officers in the Armed Forces signify dynamism and professional development within the military organization. It further implies greater responsibilities that they will carry to support the AFP in achieving its mission to protect the people and the state.
