CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The second day of the Multilateral Maritime Exercise (MME) between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the US Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), and the French Navy's Vendémiaire frigate continues today in Palawan, building upon yesterday's successful Division Tactics (DIVTACS) drills.
The MME, a key component of Exercise Balikatan 24, sees Philippine vessels BRP Davao del Sur (LD-602) and BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS-16) operating alongside the US Navy's USS Harpers Ferry (LSD-49) and the French Navy's Vendémiaire (FFH734).
The participating units engaged in the continuation of DIVTACS, focusing on refining strategies and maneuvers to enhance effective force deployment and coordination. This ongoing effort aims to bolster their combat readiness and operational effectiveness.
Additional highlight of today's activities was the Cross Deck Landing and Simulated MEDEVAC. Philippine vessel LD602 conducted flight quarters operations to receive NH434, and simultaneously performed simulated MEDEVAC/CASEVAC exercise. This was followed by a successful cross-deck landing with a French Navy FH160 helicopter, showcasing the interoperability between participating forces.
The five-day exercise will also provide opportunities to hone critical skills through a diverse range of activities. These activities include Communications Exercise, Photo Exercise (PHOTOEX), Maritime Search and Rescue with Man Overboard Exercise (SAREX), and others.
Exercise Balikatan 24 exemplifies the enduring partnership between the United States and the Philippines, as well as the growing collaboration with other nations like France.///
