CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – In commemoration of National Heroes Day yesterday, the Armed Forces of the Philippines in collaboration with the Manila Times, conducted a tribute to soldiers to recognize ten Outstanding Filipino soldiers for their contributions and sacrifices in pursuit of national peace and development.
“The partnership between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and The Manila Times for the Tribute to the Soldiers is a fitting testimony and affirmation of the importance of every soldier’s sacrifice and dedication. The story of our nation is woven from the many stories of our soldiers’ undaunted gallantry and uncommon service, all in pursuit of national peace and development,” said AFP Chief, General Romeo S Brawner Jr.
Awarded for their Contribution to the Combat Zone were SSg Daryl B Gacad PAF, Sgt William B Tello Jr (MI) PA, and S2IT Jaime V Caguioa Jr PN; for Innovation in Administrative and Logistics Functions, the awardees were TSg Bernard L Magpantay PAF, SSg Roseller D Gozo (SC) PA, and DP2 Dizon G Vallesteros PN; for Outstanding Community Service, TSg Liezel A Eranista PAF, Sgt Ephraim B Mission Jr (INF) PA, and SSgt Michael S Rayanon PN (M) were awarded; YN2 Lilane I Muring PN was awarded for her Achievement in Education; and Tactical Operations Group 7 of the Philippine Air Force was awarded as the Best Unit.
With Vice President Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, soldiers and a military unit were awarded for their exemplary achievements in the previous year and their contributions to the Armed Forces and the communities where they are deployed.
Twenty-nine AFP personnel from different branches of service were nominated for awards in four categories: contribution to the combat zone, innovation in administrative and logistics functions, outstanding community service, and achievement in education.
“As we celebrate their achievements, let us also reflect on our roles as citizens. Let us be inspired by their dedication and find ways, big or small, to contribute to our nation’s progress,” added Gen. Brawner.///
