CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City--More nations are sailing with the Philippines as the Philippine Navy guided-missile frigate BRP Antonio Luna (FF151) completed a bilateral sail in the West Philippine Sea on September 21 this time with the Canadian Halifax-class frigate HMCS Ottawa (FFH341).
Starting at around 7:23 in the morning, the two ships met and established radio communications in the vicinity of Malampaya Natural Gas Platform and performed maneuvers for Officers of the Watch (OOWs) that lasted until around 10 o'clock.
“The joint sail is part of the Philippine Navy's regular engagements with its partners in the Philippines' maritime zones. Bravo Zulu to all the personnel of both ships and those who planned this activity”, said Ltc Enrico Gil Ileto, Public Affairs Armed Forces of the Philippines chief.
Earlier on September 4, the FF150-BRP Jose Rizal joined up with the US Navy Vessel USS Ralph Johnson for a division tactics mission.
Both event signifies the shared commitment of the Philippines, United States, and Canada in promoting a rules-based international order in the West Philippine Sea and a free and open Indo-Pacific region.///
