Philippines, U.S. Reinforce Defense Ties as Balikatan 40-25 Gears Up

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- LtGen Jimmy D Larida, Vice Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (VCSAFP), welcomed LtGen James F Glynn, Commander of U.S. Marine Forces Pacific (MARFORPAC) and U.S. Exercise Balikatan Director, during a courtesy visit held on April 21, here.
During their dialogue, LtGen Larida and LtGen Glynn discussed the wide range of high-impact activities set for this year’s iteration of Balikatan. The meeting reflected both forces’ commitment to promoting a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific.

The event highlighted the strategic significance of Exercise Balikatan as one of the Indo-Pacific region’s largest and most enduring bilateral military exercises—a visible demonstration of mutual trust and cooperation between the two allied nations.
