Talakayang Mabini 2025 Highlights AFP Readiness and Future Strategic Direction

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) conducted the Talakayang Mabini 2025, an AFP Pre-Anniversary Forum on November 24, here. With the theme “Archipelagic Defense through Multi-Domain Operations: Readiness, Challenges, and Ways Forward,” the forum brought together key leaders and experts to assess the AFP’s current defense posture and chart a clear course for future capability development.

The activity sought to evaluate the AFP’s overall readiness in securing the nation’s archipelagic interests, identify operational gaps in addressing both physical and non-physical threats, and develop strategies that integrate efforts across all operational domains.

Discussions on physical defense featured presentations from Vice Admiral Alfonso F Torres Jr., Commander of Western Command; Major General Michael G Logico, Commander of the Philippine Army Training Command; and Major General Fabian M Pedregosa, Commander of the Philippine Air Force Air Defense Command. Meanwhile, insights on non-physical defense were provided by Colonel Xerxes A Trinidad, Chief of Public Affairs, AFP; Prof. Victor Andres Manhit, Founder and Managing Director of the Stratbase Institute; and Atty. Michael Toledo, Head of Government Relations and Public Affairs of Metro Pacific Investments.

The forum saw robust participation from various government agencies, defense institutions, and regional partners, underscoring the AFP’s commitment to promoting a cooperative and dynamic defense framework that strengthens security across all sectors.
