CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—General Romeo Brawner Jr, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), welcomed the US CAPSTONE Pacific program fellows and staff during their courtesy visit to the AFP General Headquarters here on February 23.
The United States generals and flag officers were led by General John Kelly (Ret), a former White House Chief of Staff, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, and commander of the US Southern Command.
Capstone is a 5-week course for newly selected generals and flag officers that will equip them with a comprehensive understanding of joint doctrine and the principles of the “Joint Operational Art.”
In his message to the delegates, General Brawner Jr highlighted the progress of the Philippine-United States defense and security relationship, adding that the AFP has received commitment from the US Indo-Pacific Command in increasing the frequency of the maritime cooperative activity (MCA).
“We are going to do those activities more; we will increase the frequency and its range. Admiral John Aquilino, the Commander of USINDOPACOM, committed to increase these engagements and told me that he’s ready when we are ready,” General Brawner said.
