Youths paid tribute to soldiers in AFP anniversary concert

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City - Various bands from different youth organizations nationwide offered a tribute to members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in a concert held at the Lapu-Lapu Grandstand, in Camp Aguinaldo on December 9, as part of the military’s 87th-anniversary activities.

The activity dubbed Talented, Responsible, Innovative and Brave (TRIB) - Youth to the Peacemakers is a concert and cultural presentation of various youth groups and AFP bands that aims to honor the sacrifices of the soldiers in performing their duties in protecting the people and securing the state.

Performers from the Teatro Benalembang Dance Group, Youth for Peace Philippines, PNP Academy Glee Club, Salam Community Youth Association, Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT), TALYP, and YFP-Davao Oriental showcased their skills from singing and cultural presentations as a gesture of their appreciation to the men and women for their service to the nation.

AFP bands from the 2nd Infantry Division, Philippine Army; PAF HSSC Band, Navy Jazz Ensemble, Philippine Marine Corps Band, Civil Relations Service, and PMA’s Glee Club and Cadet Combo also gave special numbers, manifesting the holistic military education offered at the Academy.

The event also aimed at further strengthening the military’s partnership with the youth sector and further cementing their role in nation-building. It is a follow-on activity to the Project Hiraya launched in September, which was aimed at protecting the youth from extremism and radicalization.

In his message delivered by BGen Fermin Carangan, the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for CMO, AJ7 AFP Chief of Staff LtGen Bartolome Vicente O Bacarro thanked the participating youth organizations for showing their support to the AFP as he acknowledge their roles in nation-building.

“It is our duty and responsibility to protect the dreams of our youth. The AFP must encourage them to keep themselves engaged and embark on great opportunities that will refine and strengthen their character to face the real world,” LtGen Bacarro said.

“This is the reason why the AFP is continuously upgrading its efforts to provide a safe space for our youth to exercise their contribution in matters that are crucial to the progress of their respective communities,” the Chief is Staff added.///(Photos by A2C Marlo Ted A Castro PAF, PAOAFP)
