Amid shifting regional dynamics and escalating global tensions, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) remains steadfast in its mission to defend the nation.

Under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., Commander-in-Chief of the AFP, the military continues to uphold its duty with vigilance and resolve.

In a strong message of assurance, AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S. Brawner Jr. reaffirmed the readiness and dedication of every Filipino soldier.

“The Filipino soldier is — and will always be — primed to defend the motherland, with courage, honor, and unwavering resolve,” General Brawner said.

The Chief of Staff highlighted the AFP’s enduring legacy, “forged in struggle, seasoned by history, and tested through countless battles” since its founding in 1897. From fighting colonial rule to addressing modern-day threats, this long and storied history is the foundation of the Filipino warrior’s strength and identity. More than weaponry or technology, it is this unshakable spirit and patriotism that defines the AFP’s true might.

While rooted in history, the armed forces is also committed to modernization. Guided by its Transformation Roadmap, the AFP continues to evolve into a modern, agile, and multi-domain joint force — capable of addressing both conventional and emerging threats. New specialized commands in cyber defense, intelligence, special operations, and strategic planning ensure the protection of the nation across land, sea, air, cyberspace, and the information domain.

General Brawner’s statement reflects an unwavering belief in the Filipino soldier’s commitment — a sacred oath to protect the Philippines at all costs. Today, the AFP stands united and future-ready, not to provoke war but to deter conflict and defend the nation with valor, vigilance, and vital partnerships across the globe.
