AFP Boosts Preparedness and Strengthens Ground Operations in Central Visayas

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- Demonstrating the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ unwavering commitment to operational readiness, AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr. led a field visit to the 53rd Engineer Brigade in Medellin, Cebu on October 8. The visit reinforced the AFP’s strategic focus on preparedness, infrastructure capability, and rapid response across the Visayas region.
The visit also included inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects under the Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad (TIKAS) Program, a flagship initiative of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). The AFP serves as a beneficiary of the program, which supports the construction of training facilities, quarters, and barracks which are critical components in enhancing troop readiness and supporting national security objectives.

General Brawner was joined by MGen Michael G Samson, Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, and BGen Jason V Jumawan, Commander of the 302nd Infantry Brigade to further emphasize strong, unified leadership in ground operations across the Visayas.

On the same day, the AFP Chief advanced inter-agency coordination by meeting with Bohol Governor Hon. Erico Aristotle Aumentado in Ubay, Bohol. Together, they conducted a site inspection and discussed collaborative efforts to fortify peace, development, and disaster resilience initiatives in local communities.

These frontline engagements enabled AFP leadership to assess operational conditions, align mission strategies, and uplift troop morale to ensure forces remain agile, equipped, and mission-ready to confront security and humanitarian challenges across the region.
