AFP Chief of Staff Commemorates 80th Victory Day in Historic Kiangan, Ifugao

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) joined the nation in commemorating the 80th Victory Day today, September 2, 2025, at the historic town of Kiangan, Ifugao with the AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr, as the distinguished Guest of Honor and Speaker.

The event which was also attended by key officials, including Ifugao Governor Jerry Dalipog and Major General Gulliver I Señires, Commander of the 5th Infantry Division, honored the sacrifices of Filipino, American, and Allied forces who brought an end to the Japanese occupation of the Philippines.

In his address, General Brawner invoked the spirit of the heroes who fought in the area, urging attendees to embrace their legacy. “Let us live with the same valor as those who came before us. Let us face our challenges with the courage of Kiangan's heroes."

He concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the spirit of heroism is not just a part of the past, but is alive in the present. "And let us always remember: the guardians of freedom are not only those in our history books—they are also here, among us, in Ifugao."///
