AFP Chief of Staff honors fallen heroes at 5ID

Camp Aguinaldo, QUEZON CITY – AFP Chief of Staff, LtGen Bartolome Vicente Bacarro honors our fallen heroes through a wreath-laying ceremony rendered during his visit to Headquarters 5th Infantry Division (5ID), Camp Melchor F Dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela on Dec 12.

LtGen Bacarro paid tribute to the fallen heroes of 5ID who sacrificed to protect the people of Northern Luzon from the atrocities of the communist terrorist group.

The wreath-laying ceremony is part of the Chief of Staff's activity during his visit to 5ID. He acknowledged the Division's contribution to peace, security, and development in its area of operation. His visit also aimed to inspire 5ID personnel, especially those who cannot be with their family during this yuletide season. He was welcomed by BGen Audrey L Pasia, Philippine Army, Acting 5ID Commander, other officers, non-commissioned officers, and civilian human resources.

In his traditional talk to troops, the CSAFP commended the Division for its notable accomplishments. "Let me convey to you the continuing downtrend of the enemy in this area. This is manifested in your individual and collective contribution. Looking at the matrix of 5ID, the enemy has significantly weakened in terms of firepower, their number, support coming from the community, and their ability to generate funds," says LtGen Bacarro.

The Chief of Staff also emphasized the celebration of the yuletide season. He reminded the troops to make amends during this celebration to compensate for their time away from their family while performing their duty of protecting the people and securing the state.///
