CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City - The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) General Andres C Centino PA visited the headquarters of Western Mindanao Command (WESMINCOM) in Zamboanga City on Thursday, March 10, 2022.
General Centino was received by WESMINCOM Commander, LtGen Alfredo V Rosario PA. He was accorded with military honors after which proceeded to the traditional Talk to Troops.
“It is one of my more important roles as Chief of Staff of the AFP to visit our troops in far-flung units and detachments. This is where our presence really matters. I want to see for myself the state of morale, effectiveness, and readiness of our troops,” he said.
Aside from wanting to hear the concerns of the soldiers, the AFP Chief said his visit is an opportunity to personally relay his guidance, particularly on the upcoming national and local elections.
“Let us stay non-partisan. It is not our job to meddle or join political activities. Let us focus on securing the integrity of the elections and perform the tasks that will be directed to us by the COMELEC,” he said.
The Chief of Staff lauded the men and women of the Command for their recent operational successes against the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) and Local Terrorist Group (LTG).
“We need to stay relentless in our operations against these armed threat groups. I am confident that with the pace that we are now going, coupled with the right supervision of our commanders, our troops will continue to be focused and inspired in putting an end to the problem of insurgency and terrorism in the country,” General Centino said.///(Photos by TSg Randulf D Obinque PAF/PAOAFP)
