AFP Commends Surge in Local Government Support for West Philippine Sea Protection, Reinforces “Mulat” Communication Plan

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) today lauded the growing wave of support from local government units (LGUs) nationwide, as more provinces formally align themselves with the Philippine government’s unified efforts to protect the country’s maritime zones in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

This show of solidarity is reflected in recently passed resolutions by various Provincial Peace and Order Councils (PPOCs), Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (PADACs), and Provincial Task Forces to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCACs), affirming a collective national stance in defense of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The AFP extended its deepest gratitude to the provinces of Laguna, Batangas, Cavite, and Quezon for their leadership and commitment in passing specific resolutions supporting the nation’s efforts to protect the West Philippine Sea. Their united stance strengthens the country’s resistance to unlawful maritime activities and malign influence operations, while upholding the Philippines’ firm adherence to international law.

The AFP remains resolute in fulfilling its constitutional duty to protect the country’s sovereignty and sovereign rights, and will continue working with LGUs, national agencies, and other stakeholders to build an informed citizenry and a resilient, united front in defending the West Philippine Sea.
