CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), through the Communication, Electronics, and Information Systems Service, AFP (CEISSAFP), formally concluded IDEATHON 2025 on 13 November at Tejeros Hall, AFPCOC, Camp Aguinaldo.
Organized in collaboration with the Multi-Sectoral Advisory Board (MSAB), this year’s event focused on the theme “AFP and Academe – Building Strong Partnership for Innovation and Self-Reliance in ICT.”
General Romeo S. Brawner Jr., AFP Chief of Staff attended as Guest of Honor and Speaker, joined by BGen Constancio M. Espina II, Commander of CEISSAFP and RAdm Felipe F. Bautista, Deputy Chief of Staff for C4ISTAR Systems, J6.
IDEATHON 2025 brought together innovators and partner academic institutions to develop technology solutions supporting the AFP’s operational requirements, particularly in artificial intelligence for defense, tactical communications, and encryption systems. Participants presented their concepts during the closing program, followed by the awarding ceremony led by General Brawner.
The initiative underscores the AFP’s efforts to strengthen collaboration with the academe and leverage local expertise to advance digital modernization and self-reliant defense capabilities. It marked another step in the AFP’s long-term commitment to developing homegrown, mission-tailored technological solutions that support national security and reinforce the country’s defense posture.///
