CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), in close coordination with United States forces, facilitated the rapid transport and distribution of relief goods to communities in Virac, Catanduanes on 13 November 2025, following the devastation caused by Super Typhoon Uwan.
Leveraging the strong military-to-military relationship between the AFP and the US Armed Forces, personnel from the Philippine Air Force (PAF) partnered with US Marines to expedite the movement of 100 boxes of Family Food Packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). These boxes form the first batch of relief items, with additional deliveries already underway. These were transported aboard a USMC MV-22 Osprey aircraft, chosen for its speed and ability to reach affected areas quickly despite challenging weather and terrain conditions.
Upon arrival in Virac, troops from the Philippine Air Force, Philippine Army, and Philippine Coast Guard immediately unloaded the goods and prepared them for swift distribution to residents in need.
While the AFP maintains robust airlift and humanitarian assistance capabilities, this cooperative effort with US forces enabled the accelerated delivery of life-saving relief, ensuring that more families received support at the earliest possible time—a critical factor in any disaster response.
The AFP extends its gratitude to its US counterparts for their timely assistance and reaffirms the mutual commitment of both militaries to working together in humanitarian operations, always in service of the Filipino people.///
