AFP Continues Patrol Operations in KIG, Conducts Check at Kota Island

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) continues its maritime patrol operations in the Kalayaan Island Group (KIG) today, June 6, as part of its regular efforts to ensure security, assert sovereignty, and boost troop morale in the West Philippine Sea.
Aboard BRP Andres Bonifacio (PS17), personnel conducted a routine patrol and communication check near Kota Island, a Philippine-occupied feature of both strategic and symbolic significance in the WPS.

The patrol included a communication and coordination check with stationed personnel—an essential measure to ensure operational readiness and boost morale, especially amid challenging weather conditions. The vessel also passed by Panata Island, continuing its mission to monitor and secure other Philippine-held features in the area.

This operation underscores the AFP’s commitment to regularly maintain presence and coordination across remote Philippine outposts, in line with national defense and maritime domain awareness objectives.
