CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) marked the first anniversary of its AFP Cyber Command in a ceremony held today, here, highlighting the critical role of cyber defense in national security. The ceremony was presided over by AFP Deputy Chief of Staff LtGen Rommel P Roldan joined by Colonel Joey T Fontiveros, Commander of AFP Cyber Command, who led the recognition of the command’s achievements in its inaugural year.
“In a single year, you have shown that the defense of the nation now extends far beyond our physical borders. You have proven that the Philippines must be defended not only on land, at sea, and in the air, but across the digital main where today’s threats move fastest and strike hardest,” LtGen Roldan said.
He emphasized that Cyber Command ensures the AFP’s digital backbone remains secure, enabling the Armed Forces to fight and win anytime, anywhere, and in any domain. As the AFP approaches its 90th year, he added, one truth is clear: a strong-Armed Forces must also be strong in cyberspace.
“Together, let us secure our cyberspace, fortify our systems, and build an AFP worthy of the country we serve—strong, dedicated, and undaunted in its duty to protect the Filipino people,” he concluded.
