CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) held an advocacy-driven flag-raising ceremony led by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr., who reaffirmed the AFP’s commitment to upholding human rights, advancing gender equality, and supporting the holistic development of its personnel as integral pillars of its service to the Filipino people.
The ceremony began with the observance of National Human Rights Consciousness Week, highlighting the AFP’s continued adherence to international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians in all military operations. This was followed by the kickoff of the nationwide 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, where AFP leaders reiterated the importance of creating a safe, inclusive, and gender-sensitive environment within the organization and in communities it serves.

The event also honored AFP soldier-athletes who will represent the Philippines in the upcoming 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games. A ceremonial blessing and send-off were conducted to express the institution’s full support as the athletes carry the country’s colors on the international stage. General Brawner also encouraged them to make friends. He stated that winning is good, but it is far more important to build bridges.

Through this ceremony, the AFP reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding human dignity, supporting national advocacy campaigns, and promoting the well-being and capabilities of its personnel.
