CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), in partnership with the GMA Kapuso Foundation Inc., led the inauguration ceremony of a newly completed bridge tower today in Sitio Mabolo, Barangay Puray, Montalban, Rizal. The ceremony was graced by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr. and Ms. Rikki Escudero-Catibog, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of GMA Kapuso Foundation.
The bridge project stands as a testament to unity and collaboration among various sectors. “This bridge was built for the people of Puray — but it was also built by the people of Puray. Today’s inauguration is proof that when government, the military, local communities, the private sector, and humanitarian institutions stand together for one purpose, we can build a better and stronger community,” the General Brawner said.
The 50-meter, cable-suspended concrete and steel hanging bridge, jointly donated by the AFP and GMA Kapuso Foundation, will provide a safe and reliable crossing for approximately 3,000 Dumagat-Remontado residents living across six sitios who rely on the route daily. This underscores the AFP’s steadfast commitment to supporting remote communities, ensuring they have access to essential infrastructure that enhances safety, mobility, and quality of life.
