CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) conducted a General Security of Military Information Agreement (GSOMIA) Leveling Workshop with the aim of enhancing the implementation of GSOMIA- Collaborative Execution Plan (CEP) on August 1, 2024, here.
The Workshop was attended by representatives from the Major Services, Unified Commands, Education and Training Commands, AFP-Wide Service Support Units, and the Joint Staff. Collaboratively, they prepared for the Security Assistance Visit and Security Survey conducted by the Defense Technology Security Administration (DTSA) that assesses the AFP’s compliance with the U.S. Government security standards.
During the workshop, the participants featured detailed presentation on the four Lines of Effort (LOEs), addressing information security, physical security, computer security, and security training. It resulted in the formulation of detailed action plans focusing on policy enhancement, awareness campaign, infrastructure upgrades, ensuring consistent application of security protocols and measures across all AFP units, aligned with the strategic objectives of the Department of National Defense.
In his message, AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr. praised the participants for their dedication and highlighted the workshop's crucial role in protecting military information and bolstering national security. He emphasized the workshop's collaborative effort and commitment to achieving GSOMIA compliance.
The GSOMIA Leveling Workshop marks a significant initiative in fortifying the AFP's security framework and enhancing cooperation with international allies. The collective efforts of all participants have established a solid foundation for achieving substantial security standards.
