CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) joined the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, a communication initiative of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) through the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) held on August 13, 2024, here. At the AFP General Headquarters, AFP Spokesperson Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla participated as the designated resource person.
The Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas is a national activity aligned with the mandate of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to showcase an active government fostering transparency and public engagement.
Today’s Kapihan, organized by the PIA Regional Offices simultaneously featured various units of the AFP, highlighting an in-depth overview of their respective recent progress and achievements.
During the dialogue, Colonel Padilla covered key topics, including AFP operations related to internal security, territorial defense, and humanitarian and disaster response. She also emphasized the AFP’s diplomatic stance in safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity and upholding national sovereignty.
“We are committed to asserting our rights and interests through diplomatic channels under the rules-based international order in defending our maritime zones and archipelagic sea lanes. The AFP remains steadfast in its mission to protect and serve the nation with dedication and resilience,” said Colonel Padilla.
