AFP Honors BGen Torres in Change of Chief of Office and Retirement Ceremony

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City— The Armed Forces of the Philippines held a Change of Chief of Office and Retirement ceremony on November 6, here, honoring BGen Angelica Torres as she stepped down from her post as the AFP's Chief of Dental Service.

The event was presided over by AFP Vice Chief of Staff LtGen Arthur Cordura, marking the retirement of BGen Torres who officially handed her duties to Colonel Cleofe Pulmano, who will serve in an acting capacity.

BGen Torres made history for being the first female Chief of the AFP's Dental Service. She also served as the first female Chief of Air Force’s Dental Service, breaking new ground for women’s leadership within the military healthcare system.

Meanwhile, Colonel Pulmano previously served as the Deputy of the Office of The Chief Dental Service, AFP. She also holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration.

The event underscores the AFP’s commitment toward inclusive leadership. Both BGen Torres and Colonel Pulmano stand as essential examples of the increasing recognition and empowerment of women in the military, as well as the growing role of female officers in national defense.
