CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines welcomed BGen Ulpiano Olarte as new AFP Chief Engineer in a Change of Chief of Office ceremony held today, here. The event was presided over by the AFP’s The Inspector General LtGen Augustine Malinit.
Prior assumption as AFP Chief Engineer, BGen Olarte served as the Commander of the Philippine Army's 55th Engineer Brigade. Under his leadership, the brigade successfully transitioned into the 1st Combat Engineer Regiment, where he also served as its inaugural commander. BGen Olarte was commissioned from the Officer Candidate School “Tanikala” Class of 1994.
Meanwhile, Colonel Ricnon Carolasan, who previously held the role of AFP Chief Engineer in an acting capacity, is a graduate of the Officer Preparatory Course "Makatao" Class 38 of 1996. He served as the Commanding Officer of the 546th Engineer Construction Battalion, and later on became the Chief of Staff of the 53rd Engineer Brigade. Colonel Carolasan will now assume his new post as the AFP’s Deputy Chief Engineer.
In his remarks, LtGen Malinit praised BGen Olarte for his contributions, noting his exemplary service and leadership. He also expressed full confidence that both BGen Olarte and Colonel Carolasan will continue to be the pillars in promoting innovation and readiness throughout AFP’s facilities and projects.
