AFP Honors MGen Banaag, Ensures Continuity in Education and Training Excellence

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) honored the distinguished service of Major General Llewillyn S Banaag PAF, Deputy Chief of Staff for Education, Training, and Doctrine, J8, during a joint Change of Chief of Office and Retirement Ceremony held on January 15, here.
The ceremony was presided over by AFP Vice Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Jimmy D Larida PN(M), who formally welcomed Brigadier General Ronaldo V Juan PN(M) as the new Acting Deputy Chief of Staff for Education, Training, and Doctrine, J8.
 
In his remarks, LtGen Larida commended MGen Banaag for his years of dedicated and exemplary service to the AFP, citing his significant contributions to the development and strengthening of military education and training programs. He noted that MGen Banaag’s leadership helped enhance institutional professionalism and operational readiness across the organization.

A member of the Philippine Military Academy “Sambisig” Class of 1991, MGen Banaag held several key assignments throughout his career, including Deputy Commander of the Air Force Reserve Command and Director for Operations of the Air Education, Training, and Doctrine Command. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Management, specializing in Development and Security.

Meanwhile, BGen Juan brings extensive operational, administrative, and international experience to his new role. Prior to his designation, he served as Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Education and Training, J8. His previous assignments include service as Defense and Armed Forces Attaché and Deputy Commander of the Presidential Security Group.

The ceremony underscored the AFP’s continued commitment to effective leadership transition, professional military education, and the sustained development of its training and doctrine institutions in support of national defense and security.
