CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) conferred the Chief of Staff, AFP Commendation Medal and Ribbon to six Soldier-Coaches and one Monitoring Officer during an Awarding and Recognition Ceremony held on 02 March 2026 at the General Headquarters Canopy, here.
The ceremony was presided over by Lieutenant General Rommel P Roldan PAF, The Deputy Chief of Staff, AFP, in recognition of the honorees’ invaluable service and commitment during the conduct of the 13th ASEAN Para Games held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from 15 to 28 January 2026.
Among those recognized were MSg Randy R Magcawas PAF, MSg Roberti G Fresnido PAF, TSg Joan M Calvadores PAF, SSg Anriel B Ferrera PAF, Sgt Julius S Sermona PA, and Sgt Ray Cris P Capispisan PAF. Colonel Ruben B Guilnobay PA (GSC), Chief of the Office of Special Service, AFP, was also cited for his strategic oversight as the Monitoring Officer.
The collective dedication of these personnel was a pivotal factor in the Philippines’ impressive 3rd Runner-Up finish among 10 participating Southeast Asian nations. The national contingent brought home a total of 38 medals, consisting of 16 gold, 9 silver, and 13 bronze.
This event highlights the AFP’s steadfast support to national sports development and the empowerment of differently-abled athletes. The AFP commended the awardees for exemplifying excellence beyond the battlefield and for upholding the organization’s commitment to service and national pride.///
