CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – LtGen Steve Crespillo, Inspector General of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, welcomed MGen Kang In Kyu, Senior Member of the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission (UNCMAC), on a courtesy visit marking a significant moment of diplomatic engagement and cooperation on April 30, 2024, here.
The courtesy visit provided an exchange of views on a range of topics, including regional security challenges, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief operations, and potential areas for enhanced cooperation.
The two parties also recalled the Philippine Military Aid to the UN Act of 1950 as the basis for the Philippine Expeditionary Force to Korea (PEFTOK), which provided the detailing and assignment of AFP personnel to the Armistice Commission.
The meeting is part of the AFP’s commitment to fostering ties in pursuit of multilateral cooperation, addressing shared security concerns, and contributing to global peacekeeping efforts.
