CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City--The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) formally installed Col Xerxes Trinidad as the new chief of the Public Affairs Office AFP (PAOAFP) on October 27 at the General Headquarters here.
Col Trinidad replaced LtCol Enrico Gil Ileto, who moved on to pursue full time his Master’s in National Security Administration, in the ceremony presided by LtGen Charlton Sean Gaerlan, The Deputy Chief of Staff AFP.
“In today’s fast-paced and interconnected world, the landscape of public affairs and communication has evolved. We must adapt and innovate. I am committed in leveraging the power of technology and social media to reach a wider audience and ultimately bring the AFP closer to the Filipino people,” Col Trinidad pledged during his remarks.
He also vowed to push for the capacity enhancement and professional development of PAOAFP personnel and establish robust systems and procedures.
“We will be well-equipped to foster a culture of good governance, ensuring the fulfillment of PAOAFP’s role in promoting and safeguarding the image of the AFP,” Col Trinidad assured.
The new Chief PAOAFP also serves as the Army spokesperson and public affairs chief. He was the Assistant Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations, G7, of the 4th Infantry Division and commander of the 36th Infantry Battalion.
In his remarks, the presiding officer expressed his confidence in Col Trinidad, who will now take on the task of leading the AFP’s strategic public affairs efforts and in securing and safeguarding the AFP’s good public image.
“Col Trinidad is a well-rounded officer, who has held command and staff positions. With his experience as the Army Chief Public Affairs, I am certain that he will be able effectively lead the PAOAFP on matters pertaining to public affairs and public information,” LtGen Gaerlan said.
