CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) joined the Filipino nation in celebrating the 124th proclamation of the Philippine Independence this Sunday, June 12.
The AFP has teamed up with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) in the conduct of simultaneous activities within and outside Metro Manila.
President Rodrigo Duterte led the flag raising and wreath-laying ceremonies at the Rizal National Monument in Rizal Park, Manila with the AFP Chief of Staff General Andres Centino serving as Military Host.
One of the highlights of the commemoration was the flyby of AFP air assets like the FA-50 fighter jets and SF-260 attack aircrafts along with AgustaWestland AW109, S-70i Blackhawk, and T-129 ‘ATAK’ Helicopters.
Simultaneously, Congressman Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, 1st District Representative of
Leyte and Defense Undersecretary for Civil, Veterans and Retiree Affairs Reynaldo B Mapagu led the independence day commemoration at the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite and Mauseleo delos Veteranos dela Rovolucion North Cemetery in Manila, respectively.///(Photo by TSg Randulf Obinque PAF/PAOAFP)
