CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), through the Peace and Development Office, participated in the celebration of World Hijab Day 2024 with Senator Robinhood Padilla as the Guest of Honor and Speaker on February 01 at the Lapulapu Grandstand.
With the theme, “Embracing Diversity: Cultivating Peace and Development through Inclusivity,” the Chief of Staff, AFP, General Romeo S Brawner Jr., expressed his support for the celebration.
“The Armed Forces of the Philippines, entrusted with leading this year’s commemoration, is proud to continue our efforts in fostering understanding and goodwill among all communities. Let us stand united in solidarity to honor the World Hijab Day and uphold the principles of inclusivity in diversity,” said Gen. Brawner.
Meanwhile, Senator Padilla expressed his gratitude to the AFP for supporting and showcasing respect and discipline, as well as setting an example for Filipinos to achieve peace and progress. "Ang pagbibigay ng paggalang sa pananampalataya at pakikiisa sa pananampalataya ng isang tao, iyon ang pinakamataas na antas ng pagkatao na puwede nating makuha dito sa bayan natin at sa buong mundo. At nakikita natin ang disiplina at paggalang sa Armed Forces of the Philippines. Kung makukuha natin ang disiplina na ito, darating ang araw, hindi lang sa usapin ng Hijab kung hindi sa lahat ng aspeto ng kultura, lengguahe, at tradisyon, uunlad tayo. Kaya't sana mas lalo nating palakasin ang Sandatahang Lakas," Sen. Padilla urged.
Celebrated every first day of February, the World Hijab Day aims to honor Muslim women who wear Hijabs, serving as a symbol of modesty and empowerment. The first World Hijab Day (WHD) was conducted February 1, 2013 as a movement established to promote cultural understanding, inviting women to experience wearing the Hijab for a day.///
