CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Japan Self-Defense Force (JSDF) reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral defense cooperation as AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr. and JSDF Chief of Staff, Joint Staff, General Hiroaki Uchikura, held a virtual meeting on December 17.
During the discussion, both military leaders exchanged views on regional security developments and explored opportunities to further enhance cooperation between the AFP and JSDF. General Brawner expressed the AFP’s appreciation for Japan’s continued support and underscored the importance of sustained engagement with like-minded partners in promoting regional peace and stability.
The virtual meeting underscored the strategic partnership between the Philippines and Japan, reflecting a shared commitment to maintaining regional stability and advancing defense cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region founded on mutual respect, shared values, and adherence to international law.
