AFP meets with PCW and OPAPRU to enhance gender, peace Initiative

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) held a joint meeting with representatives from the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) on August 20 at the AFP General Headquarters here. The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration in advancing gender-responsive initiatives and peacebuilding efforts within the AFP and across the country.
The AFP Chief of Staff, General Romeo Brawner Jr., met with the delegates led by Dr. Macario T. Jusayan, Chief of the Sectoral Coordination Division of the PCW, and Mr. Rene A. Gandeza Jr., Project Program Officer V of the Women, Peace, and Security Division of OPAPRU.

During the meeting, the participants discussed ongoing and future programs that align with the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda and the integration of gender perspectives in military operations and peace initiatives.

The joint meeting served as a platform to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore new avenues for collaboration between the AFP, PCW, and OPAPRU. It also reinforced the shared vision of fostering an inclusive environment where the contributions of women are recognized and valued in peace and security efforts.

The AFP, through its continued partnership with key government agencies, remains steadfast in its mission to uphold human rights, promote gender equality, and contribute to lasting peace in the Philippines.
