CAMP AGUINALDO, City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has raised its Red Alert status and mobilized its disaster response units across all major services in full support of the national government’s efforts to safeguard communities affected by Super Typhoon “Uwan.”
In line with the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the Commander-in-Chief, and Defense Secretary Gilbert C. Teodoro Jr., the AFP has intensified its Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations, ensuring that troops and assets are strategically positioned to respond to emergencies, conduct rescue operations, and deliver relief to affected areas.
To quantify this commitment, the AFP has deployed a total of 243 Search, Rescue, and Retrieval (SRR) Teams to key areas, particularly in Northern and Central Luzon, where the typhoon threat is highest.
These teams are manned by roughly 1,500 dedicated personnel, with the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) leading the immediate response efforts in coordination with other AFP units and local disaster response agencies.
A total of 81 Land Assets are currently mobilized for ongoing HADR activities, with additional assets ready and on standby to ensure a sustained and decisive response in rescue, relief, and recovery operations.
The AFP is maintaining seamless coordination with the Office of Civil Defense and local DRRMCs, and we urge all citizens to heed the safety advisories from local government units, as every second of preparedness is crucial to saving lives.///
