AFP officers take new posts

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—Several high-ranking officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines are expected to assume new positions following an order of appointments approved by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

LtGen William Gonzales, the Inspector General AFP, was designated as the new Commander of Western Mindanao Command. He will swap places with MGen Steve Crespillo.

Also, MGen Gabriel Viray III, who is expected to command the 1st Infantry Division, will relinquish his post as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations, J7, to BGen Arvin Lagamon, commander of the Civil Relations Service AFP.

The command of CRSAFP then goes to BGen Ramon Zagala who is expected to relinquish his post as commander of the Presidential Security Group in a ceremony today, October 18, at the PSG compound in Malacañang, Manila.

The task of protecting the President and the First Family as well as visiting heads of states and diplomats will pass on to BGen Jesus Nelson Morales, the current deputy commander of Air Logistics Command.

Meanwhile, BGen Edmundo Peralta assumed as the new chief of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in an Assumption of Command Ceremony presided by the AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

The movements demonstrate the progressive military careers enjoyed by these officers and the AFP being a dynamic organization. The officers were duly screened by the AFP Board of Generals following the principles of merit, fitness, character, and honor. The candidates were endorsed through the Secretary of National Defense to the Commander in Chief. ///
