CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), co-hosting with Canada, formally opened the Chaplain Resiliency Development Course on March 10, 2025 at Westin Manila, Ortigas Center.
The opening ceremony was attended by Lieutenant Colonel Jason King, Canadian Defense Attaché to the Philippines; Commander Tete Delali Gunn, Commandant of the Canadian Forces Chaplain School and Centre and Chief Instructor; Colonel Alvin Jay Capinguian PAF (GSC), Chief, Individual Education and Training Division, OJ8; and Brigadier General Daniel D Tansip, Chief of the AFP Chaplain Service.
The Chaplain Resiliency Development Course, scheduled to run until 21 March 2025, is delivered by the Canadian Directorate of Military Training and Cooperation (DMTC).
The course aims to enhance the skills of chaplains across all denominations. It will introduce participants to the Royal Canadian Chaplain Service training methods, structure, and philosophy, while promoting interoperability and strengthening faith-based support systems within military organizations.
This partnership underscores the AFP’s commitment to enhancing its personnel’s holistic well-being, particularly in the spiritual and emotional resilience of military chaplains who play a vital role in troop welfare.///
