CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the National Capital Region has activated its disaster response units and mobilized personnel and assets to respond to the potential impacts of Tropical Storm “Enteng.”
In anticipation of the storm, the AFP has positioned 11 Search, Rescue, and Retrieval (SRR) teams on standby alert. These teams, composed of 6 officers and 98 enlisted personnel, are equipped with 19 land and 7 water assets to provide immediate assistance in flooded areas and conduct rescue operations where needed.
“Our troops are on high alert and ready to be deployed at a moment’s notice. The AFP is fully committed to supporting disaster response efforts and ensuring the safety of our citizens during this challenging time,” said AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr.
Currently, AFP units are closely coordinating with local government units (LGUs) and other government agencies to ensure a swift and coordinated response. Teams have conducted briefings and mustering exercises to prepare for immediate deployment, and assets have been strategically positioned to access critical areas quickly.
The AFP has also advised mariners and the general public to take precautionary measures and stay informed about weather updates, particularly in flood-prone areas in the National Capital Region (NCR) and nearby provinces.
As part of its core values of honor, service, and patriotism, the AFP remains dedicated to protecting the lives and well-being of the Filipino people, especially during natural calamities.
