AFP, USINDOPACOM Conduct First PH–US Maritime Cooperative Activity for 2026
The Philippine Coast Guard’s BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV8301) joins Philippine and United States naval forces during the 11th Philippine–United States Maritime Cooperative Activity (MCA) in the West Philippine Sea, further strengthening Philippine maritime domain awareness and enhancing inter-agency and allied maritime cooperation.

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- Marking the start of this year’s series of bilateral maritime engagements, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) conducted the first PH–US Maritime Cooperative Activity (MCA) for 2026 on January 25–26 in Bajo de Masinloc within the West Philippine Sea (WPS). The activity also marked the 11th PH–US Bilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity.
This iteration highlighted the enduring AFP–US alliance and reaffirmed both forces’ shared commitment to strengthening maritime security, enhancing operational interoperability, and upholding a rules-based international order in the Indo-Pacific region.

For the activity, the AFP deployed BRP Antonio Luna (FF151), PAF's FA50, an A-29 Super Tucano aircraft, an AW109 helicopter, , with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) contributing BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV 8301). Meanwhile, USINDOPACOM fielded USS John Finn (DDG 113) and an MH-60R Seahawk helicopter.

Participating units conducted a series of combined naval and air operations, including Replenishment at Sea (RAS) Stationing, Replenishment-at-Sea Approach (RASAP), Surface Warfare Exercise (SUWEX), Night Steaming in Company (NSIC), Photo Exercise (PHOTOEX), and Passing Exercise (PASSEX).

The successful conduct of these activities enhanced coordination, tactical proficiency, and mutual understanding between allied forces, further strengthening their readiness to address maritime challenges and contribute to peace and stability in the region.
