CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City - The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) formally welcomed Lieutenant General Edmundo G Peralta as the new The Deputy Chief of Staff, AFP, during a joint Assumption and Donning of Ranks Ceremony held here on May 18. The ceremony also marked his promotion to the rank of three-star general and was presided over by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr.
Prior to his assumption, Lt. General Peralta served as Chief of the Intelligence Service, AFP. He succeeds Lieutenant General Arvin R Lagamon, who served in an acting capacity while concurrently performing his duties as Commander of the Civil-Military Operations Command (CMOC).
In his remarks, General Brawner underscored the importance of committed leadership in advancing the AFP’s mission, “The AFP moves forward because of leaders who are willing to accept responsibility, carry the burden of command, and place mission above self,” General Brawner said.
The joint ceremony highlighted the AFP’s continuing commitment to professional excellence, leadership development, and organizational continuity as it strengthens its capability to address evolving national security challenges.
