AFP Welcomes New Deputy Chief of Staff, Strengthens Operational Effectiveness

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines welcomed LtGen Jimmy D Larida as the new AFP Deputy Chief of Staff in a Change of Chief of Office Ceremony held on November 5, here. The event was presided over by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr.
Prior assumption, LtGen Larida served as the AFP’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, J3. He also previously commanded the AFP's Joint Task Force National Capital Region (JTF-NCR) and held key positions such as the Deputy Commandant of the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) and Commander of the 3rd Marine Brigade.

LtGen Larida, a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Sambisig” Class of 1991, holds a Master’s Degree in Military Studies from the U.S. Marine Corps University in Virginia, USA.

LtGen Larida succeeded LtGen Augustine S Malinit, who served in an acting capacity. LtGen Malinit, also a member of the PMA “Sambisig” Class of 1991, is currently serving as AFP’s The Inspector General.

In his address, General Brawner expressed his optimism to the new leadership under LtGen Larida, “I am confident that LtGen Larida will leverage his extensive experience to propel the AFP towards greater achievement. Your appointment reflects your outstanding record of service, strategic mindset, and the confidence placed in you by the entire Armed Forces,” he said.
