CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) welcomed Colonel Somchay Xaichaleun, incoming Defense Attaché of Lao People’s Democratic Republic to the Philippines during his introductory call today, here. The visit was presided over by AFP Deputy Chief of Staff LtGen Rommel P Roldan.
The engagement underscored the mutual commitment of the Philippines and Lao PDR, both member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), to fostering stronger ties. Both leaders affirmed their intent to enhance bilateral cooperation, advance defense diplomacy, and promote regional solidarity across Southeast Asia.
The visit also marked the seven decades of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Lao PDR, further emphasizing the long-standing friendship and strategic partnership between the two ASEAN brothers.
