CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – Officially marking the beginning of friendly competitions among Philippine uniformed services, atheletes participating in the AFP-PNP-PCG-BFP-BJMP Olympics 2023 were reminded of their role for peace and freedom of Filipinos in an opening ceremony October 10 at the Lapu-Lapu Grandstand here.
“This event is one way for us to develop our camaraderie. Being members of the uniformed services of the Philippines, we are a proud organization. Marami po sa ating mga kababayan ang umaasa sa atin para sa kalayaan ng ating bayan at sa kapayaaan,” said the Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), General Romeo S Brawner Jr PA, the Guest of Honor and Speaker.
“A lot rests upon our shoulders, but while we are very serious in our work, we also need to find the time to exercise, to play, to enjoy sports, but more importantly also for our athletes to develop their respective skills in their sports,” added the CSAFP.
This year, participants from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) will compete in 23 sports events.
“I encourage you all to enjoy the spirit of friendly competition to support our athletes since they represent the best in our services. Let the bonds tie us together and also the bonds of our nation,” said BGen Armand Arevalo, Commander, GHQ & HSC, AFP, as he welcomed the participants.///
