CSAFP Joins the Ceremonial Signing of SRDP Act, Aims a Robust Defense Capabilities

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines General Romeo S Brawner Jr. joined President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the signing ceremony of the Self-Reliant Defense Posture (SRDP) Revitalization Act on October 8, 2024 in Malacañan Palace. This initiative aims to bolster the country's defense strategies by establishing its own robust and sustainable National Defense Industry.
The SRDP law represents a structured and innovative approach to defense development, focusing on enhancing the Philippines’ research and production capabilities. It aligns closely with the country’s strategic objectives, ensuring that defense systems are not only modernized but also tailored to meet dynamic security landscape.

During the ceremony, President Marcos Jr. emphasized the importance of the SRDP law, “It is a commitment to a long-term growth trajectory for a national defense industry that will support the defense requirements of our country.”

The SRDP law highlights the Armed Forces' adaption to enhance its capacity to safeguard national sovereignty. As we face complex geopolitical challenges, the law underscores a vital step in strengthening our defense capabilities and cultivating a resilient defense industry to secure our future.
