CSAFP meets with Australian Chief of Defense

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—AFP Chief of Staff General Andres C Centino met with Australia's Chief of Defense Force General Angus Campbell in a telephone call on March 13.

The phone call meeting marked solid military coordination between the Philippines and Australia as partners in keeping the peace and stability in the South Pacific region.

It also came ahead of the announcement of the Australian government, in collaboration with the US and the UK, of its transition to conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines. General Campbell informed the CSAFP of this development and assured his counterpart of their continued coordination.

Meanwhile, the CSAFP thanked General Campbell for the Australian government's continued support and participation in the PH-US Exercise Balikatan, which is scheduled to open this April 11 for its 38th iteration.
