CSAFP to Armor Div troops: Attitude, values, essential to be world-class

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – General Andres Centino PA, Chief of Staff, AFP (CSAFP), addressed the Armor (Pambato) Division, Philippine Army, during his visit to Camp O'Donnell, Sta. Lucia, Capas, Tarlac on January 30, 2023.

In his talk to the "mounted warriors," CSAFP spoke of the AFP's accomplishments in combating several threats and problems in the country. However, he emphasized that though the insurgency threat has been significantly reduced, more efforts are needed to pave the way for an environment conducive to progress and development.

The CSAFP highlighted the advancement of professionalism and meritocracy in the AFP by reminding military officers to lead their men efficiently and effectively. In addition, he encouraged commanders to be aware of their responsibilities and to visit their troops in the field. "That is the only time when you're seen by your troops, that you give the motivation and inspiration for them to give their best also," said CSAFP during his talk.

He ended his talk by thanking MGen Facundo O Palafox IV PA, Commander of Armor Division, PA, for their outstanding performance all over the country and told them to carry on with their work. He also reminded the troops that the more important part of being a soldier is the thinking and demeanor that they show to the Filipino people.

"It is not in the equipment that will make us world-class; it is in the attitude, values, and skills of our soldiers that will make us world-class. Therefore, I would expect the Armor Division to support your leadership of the Army and the Armed Forces of the Philippines," said the CSAFP as he thanked the Armor Division troops.

During his visit, the CSAFP also inspected Armor Division's newly acquired assets, including the Sabrah ASCOD 2 and Pandur II tanks, upgraded armored combat vehicles, and Simba fighting vehicles, which provide close and indirect fire support for the maneuvering unit.

These are part of the AFP Modernization Program aimed at improving the Army's capability to operate and integrate tanks in military operations.
